Job Description

The Paraeducator will contribute to creating a positive and productive educational atmosphere, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instructional Support:
    • Assist teachers in delivering instructional materials and activities.
    • Support students in understanding and completing assignments.
    • Implement educational plans under the guidance of certified teachers.
  2. Student Assistance:
    • Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students with varying needs.
    • Help students with special needs by adapting lessons and materials.
    • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  3. Classroom Management:
    • Assist with maintaining order and discipline in the classroom.
    • Monitor student behavior and progress, reporting any issues to the teacher.
    • Support teachers in implementing classroom rules and procedures.
  4. Administrative Tasks:
    • Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom supplies.
    • Assist in record-keeping, including attendance and grade tracking.
    • Perform clerical duties such as copying, filing, and data entry.
  5. Communication:
    • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support student learning.
    • Communicate effectively with students to understand their needs and progress.
    • Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  6. Supervision:
    • Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as lunch, recess, and field trips.
    • Ensure student safety and adherence to school policies during activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Associate’s degree or completion of at least two years of college coursework in education or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
    • Experience with special education or diverse learning needs is an advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
    • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children.
    • Basic proficiency in using educational technology and software.
    • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Certifications:
    • Paraeducator certification or willingness to obtain certification may be required based on district policies.
    • CPR and First Aid certification is desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • The Paraeducator will work primarily in a classroom setting.
  • May require standing for extended periods and some physical activity.
  • Full-time and part-time positions available, with hours depending on the school’s schedule.
