Job Description

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of electrical systems, safety protocols, and the ability to work at heights.

Responsibilities:

  1. Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems.
  2. Climb poles, use bucket trucks, and work at heights to perform line maintenance and repairs.
  3. Inspect power lines, transformers, and other electrical equipment to identify and resolve issues.
  4. String and splice conductors, as well as erect poles and towers to support electrical infrastructure.
  5. Install and maintain telecommunication lines, including fiber optic and coaxial cables.
  6. Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in line work, ensuring they are in safe and working condition.
  7. Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  8. Respond to emergency calls and outages, working quickly and efficiently to restore power.
  9. Collaborate with other team members to complete projects and tasks on time and within budget.
  10. Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Completion of a Lineman apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience.
  3. Knowledge of electrical systems, including distribution and transmission networks.
  4. Ability to climb poles and work at heights, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
  5. Strong physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and operate equipment.
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  7. Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  8. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  9. Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Certification as a Journeyman Lineman.
  2. Experience working with electrical utility companies or telecommunications providers.
  3. Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
