Job Description
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of electrical systems, safety protocols, and the ability to work at heights.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems.
- Climb poles, use bucket trucks, and work at heights to perform line maintenance and repairs.
- Inspect power lines, transformers, and other electrical equipment to identify and resolve issues.
- String and splice conductors, as well as erect poles and towers to support electrical infrastructure.
- Install and maintain telecommunication lines, including fiber optic and coaxial cables.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in line work, ensuring they are in safe and working condition.
- Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Respond to emergency calls and outages, working quickly and efficiently to restore power.
- Collaborate with other team members to complete projects and tasks on time and within budget.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Lineman apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, including distribution and transmission networks.
- Ability to climb poles and work at heights, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
- Strong physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and operate equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Journeyman Lineman.
- Experience working with electrical utility companies or telecommunications providers.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
