Job Description

This role requires a detail-oriented professional with excellent problem-solving abilities and a deep understanding of network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Implementation: Design, configure, and implement network solutions to support business requirements. This includes LAN, WAN, and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Network Maintenance: Monitor and maintain network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Perform regular updates and patches to network devices.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex network issues in a timely manner. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and other IT staff.
  • Security: Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems, to protect the organization’s data and network resources.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration files, and operational procedures.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze network performance metrics and make recommendations for improvements. Optimize network configurations to improve efficiency and reduce latency.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT professionals, including system administrators, database administrators, and software developers, to ensure seamless integration and operation of IT systems.
  • Vendor Management: Liaise with hardware and software vendors to support network infrastructure. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and products.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to junior network staff and other IT team members. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering or a related role.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, BGP, etc.).
    • Experience with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
    • Knowledge of network security best practices and technologies.
    • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
    • Experience with virtualization and cloud networking solutions (AWS, Azure, etc.) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with VoIP and telecommunication systems.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (Python, Shell scripting).
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and practices.

Work Environment:

  • This position may require occasional after-hours or weekend work to address network issues or perform maintenance.
  • Some travel may be required to support remote sites and data centers.
