Job Description

The Senior Tax and Accounting Specialist will play a pivotal role in overseeing tax compliance, preparing complex tax returns, and providing insightful guidance to clients to optimize their financial strategies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations by staying abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations. Prepare and file accurate and timely tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities.
  2. Strategic Tax Planning: Collaborate with clients to develop tax-efficient strategies that minimize tax liabilities while maximizing financial growth opportunities. Provide proactive advice on tax implications related to business transactions, investments, and estate planning.
  3. Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to assess the impact of tax strategies on clients’ financial objectives. Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement through effective tax planning.
  4. Client Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships based on trust and professionalism. Address client inquiries, concerns, and needs promptly and effectively.
  5. Accounting Services: Oversee accounting processes, including financial statement preparation, reconciliation of accounts, and general ledger maintenance. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  6. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the tax and accounting team to share knowledge, resources, and best practices. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members to foster their professional growth and development.
  7. Risk Management: Identify potential tax risks and implement strategies to mitigate exposure. Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
  8. Continuous Learning: Stay informed about emerging trends and developments in tax law, accounting practices, and industry regulations. Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or EA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax planning and accounting, with a focus on complex tax issues.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to explain complex tax concepts to clients.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
