- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Ensure adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards to maintain consistency in food products.
- Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen assistants.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and specials, considering seasonal availability and customer preferences.
- Manage inventory and ordering of kitchen supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing waste.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Assist in scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and special events.
- Handle any kitchen-related issues or emergencies in a timely and efficient manner.
- Stay current with industry trends and techniques, continually seeking opportunities for professional development.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification from an accredited institution preferred.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen equipment.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Detail-oriented approach to quality control and presentation.
- Proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and inventory management software.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
- Valid food handler’s permit or certification.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to stand, walk, and lift heavy objects for extended periods.
