Job Description

The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, possess strong leadership skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
  2. Ensure adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards to maintain consistency in food products.
  3. Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen assistants.
  4. Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and specials, considering seasonal availability and customer preferences.
  5. Manage inventory and ordering of kitchen supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing waste.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  7. Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
  8. Assist in scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and special events.
  9. Handle any kitchen-related issues or emergencies in a timely and efficient manner.
  10. Stay current with industry trends and techniques, continually seeking opportunities for professional development.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  2. Culinary degree or relevant certification from an accredited institution preferred.
  3. Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen equipment.
  4. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  5. Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  6. Detail-oriented approach to quality control and presentation.
  7. Proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and inventory management software.
  8. Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  9. Valid food handler’s permit or certification.
  10. Physical stamina and dexterity to stand, walk, and lift heavy objects for extended periods.
